The preferred target of the participants are the ICAR Members

THE BACKGROUND

The International Committee for Animal Recording (ICAR) continues to refine and expand its Validation Services, particularly in the realm of sensor systems used in livestock management. These services are designed to ensure that devices—such as milk meters, analyzers, and identification tools—meet rigorous standards for accuracy, reliability, and usability. The validation process involves a structured protocol: applicants submit detailed documentation and a formal request, after which ICAR designates a certified Test Centre to conduct evaluations. Once testing is complete, results are reviewed by the MRSD Sub-Committee, and successful systems are awarded an official ICAR Certificate.

ICAR COMMITTMENT

Recent updates emphasize greater transparency and accessibility in the validation process. ICAR has applied its application procedures and expanded its guidelines, particularly Section 11, which outlines the technical and procedural requirements for sensor system validation. These enhancements aim to support milk recording organizations, external databases, and other stakeholders in making informed decisions about adopting new technologies. Certified systems are now prominently listed on the ICAR website, reinforcing trust and visibility within the global agricultural community
