International Agreement on Recording Practices (ICAR Recording Guidelines)

• The new ICAR Guidelines, approved by the General Assembly held in Kuopio, Finland in June 2006 are now available (about 8.1 Mb).
   

• The instructions (May 2007) on how to perform the "Periodic checking of approved and provisionally approved meters. Hints for the sample taker and farmer" can be downloaded here
   

• The Interbull Guidelines 2001 (about 150Kb) for National & International Genetic Evaluation Systems in Dairy Cattle with Focus on Production Traits are now available.

Corrections to be approved by the General Assembly in Niagara Falls, USA

The following are the proposed corrections  for approval by the next General Assembly to the ICAR Recording Guidelines  to be held during the next 36th ICAR Biennial session at  Niagara Falls, USA

• Eartag Family
• Performance evaluation and approval of official permanent identification devices
• Performance evaluation and approval of official permanent identification devices
  Part 1: Conventional permanent plastic eartags (with or without machine readable printing)
• Performance evaluation and approval of official permanent identification devices
  Part 2: Electronic permanent plastic eartags
  (with or without machine readable printing)

The Genetic Analysis Working Group is proposing the following corrections:

• Rules and guidelines for accreditation of dna paternity testing in cattle

• Annex 1 (Questionnaire Paternity testing in cattle)

The Animal Fibre Task Force prepared the following new texts for the Alpaca:

• Alpaca shearing management, fibre harvesting and grading

• Standards and guidelines on methods of alpaca identification
